This area harbors a good shelter for several wild species of animals and avifauna. Landcover of Banni grassland has changed significantly due to anthropogenic pressure. The present study was carried out by using Remote sensing and GIS techniques and it was assessed that in Banni grassland, barren land has significantly increased covering up to 43% in 1989, 58% in 1999 and 68% of the total area. Supervised classification and accuracy assessment makes this study very informative and important with the details of change classes and accurate classified areas. There has been increase in the rate of loss of vegetation of this region which may be a matter of concern in near future as it will affect the biodiversity of the area and the ecological balance.
