Abstract

The experiment was carried out to find the efficacy of Biocides from five medicinal plants viz. Pignut (Hyptis suaveolens), Holy basil (Ocimum sanctum), false water willow (Andrographis paniculata), Patchauli (Pogostemon cablin) and Cymbopogon grass (Cymbopogon winterianus) against Pestalotiopsis palmarum causing Grey leaf spot (GLS) of Coconut. The Biocides were prepared from the above plants as crude plant extract and their extracted oils. They were used in three different concentrations as 1%, 0.5% and 0.33% against the test fungus to find their efficacy with regard to the radial growth under in vitro condition. Among them, the Biocide in the form of crude plant extract (1%) was found to be most effective in inhibiting the radial growth (100%) of the test fungus.
