Retrieval of Kc from SEBAL and comparison among NDVI and LAI based methods
Reference Evapotranspiration (ETo) is an important factor in agricultural water management. One important factor in calculation of ETo is crop coefficient (Kc). Error in Kc estimation causes a significant error in calculating crop water requirement because of their empirical nature. Hence Kc estimation as per local conditions is required. The uncertainty in calculating Kc can be minimized by use of satellite data and can provide vital information about actual growth condition of crops in near real time. In this research work, the validated SEBAL model was used for retrieval of Kc and compared with the Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) based techniques.
